The Company was created in 1990 under the name of its choreographer Catherine Berbessou. 

In 1996, Tango entered the Company and obtained the confidence of the Biennale de danse in Lyon and the support of Adami. Thus was born the show A Fuego Lento, which enjoyed great success and the support of the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris. In 1998, the Company moved into residence at the Gémeaux Scène Nationale in Sceaux for 7 months. Valser was presented on March 12 and 13, 1999. This show was co-produced by Gémeaux, obtained the support of Adami, Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, Afaa and obtained aid for the creation of the Drac d’Ile de France, Ministry of Culture and Communication. In 1999, the residency at Gémeaux was renewed for a year and will allow the production of a film Intrusion in collaboration with Sébastien Jaudeau presented during the Rencontre Exceptionnelle evening presented on March 28,29,30, 2000 in Sceaux. In 2000 and 200, the Company obtained a two-year company aid from the Drac Ile de France Ministry of Culture and Communication, and devoted itself to the distribution of A Fuego lento and Valser. In 2002, La Compagnie returned to the Théâtre des Gémeaux in Sceaux for a creative residency where Fleur de Cactus was presented on March 8,9,10. Co-produced by Sceaux, the Théâtre de la Ville, Forbach, the Festival de Marseille, Lyon and with the support of Drac Ile de France and Adami.
