Originally from the United States, Thomas Caley worked between 1994 and 2000 as a principal dancer with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, with whom he toured the world and took part in the creation of twelve new works. In 2000, he moved to Stockholm to continue his collaboration with Petter Jacobsson and began a career as a freelance dancer in Europe. In France he worked with Boris Charmatz on 50 ans de danse and Flip book.

Since 2011, Thomas Caley has been research coordinator at the CCN – Ballet de Lorraine, working with Petter Jacobsson on the creation of several pieces including Discofoot, For Four Walls, Air-Condition, Instantly Forever and Mesdames et Messieurs. He is also working on the remounting of several pieces from the Merce Cunningham Dance Company repertoire, including Sounddance, RainForest, Fabrications and CRWDSPCR.
