Julie Botet, choreographer and dancer, began her career at La Manufacture Vendetta Mathea (Aurillac) before joining the school of the Centre Chorégraphique National de Roubaix under Carolyn Carlson and then Olivier Dubois. At the same time, in 2015 she obtained a degree in Art-Dance from the University of Lille 3.
In 2016, she spent a year at CobosMika Seed’s in Catalonia, where she met a number of Catalan and European choreographers. It was in Catalonia that she was introduced to video-dance/performance when she joined the Palamos Hospital collective. She went on to create NEUS and KISS KISS. On her return from Spain, she created NANA, a short video shot in Roubaix. Also in 2016, Julie joined Les Sapharides, which she now co-directs with Mel Favre. Together they signed Dolores (2019), PUCIE (2020) and Jumelles (2022).

From June 2019, the artist will be initiating her first solo project, Bébé. As part of the creation of this solo, she took part in the ATLAS 2022 programme for young choreographers at the Impulstanz Festival (Vienna, Austria) under the eye of playwright Guy Cools, then coach of the ATLAS group. From 2022, she joined the Laboratoire Chorégraphique De l’Impertinence (Sète) directed by Dora Penchev and Zoé Lakhnati. There, she took part in two collective creations: Pauline Pauline (2022) and GUSH IS GREAT (2023) – the latter being selected for the Danse Elargie 2024 competition at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris and winning second prize from the Jury as well as the Prix du Jury Jeunes

Julie is currently a dancer-performer with Les Sapharides and La Ruse – Bérénice Legrand and Marinette Dozeville, and also works as a choreographer for the Lacavale collective, Cie Proteo – Louise Wailly, Cie l’Impatiente – Antoine Domingos, l’Escamoteuse – Pauline Fontaine, Cie A-CO – Agathe Coquelle, and Cie SUMO – Mélissa Guex (Switzerland). She also takes part in dance and vocal expression workshops with groups of women from a variety of backgrounds (in prisons, nursing homes and with people with disabilities). Julie is also in the process of becoming a dance therapist specialising in Parkinson’s disease. The year 2024 marks the launch of a new multi-disciplinary project (dance, text and photography) entitled Lymph Blood Story 9424, due to be premiered in March 2026.
