Julio Bocca
Born in Argentina, Julio Bocca entered the Teatro Colón Ballet in Buenos Aires in 1983. At the age of 18, in 1985, he won the gold medal at the 5th international dance competition in Moscow and was directly hired for the American Ballet Theatre by Mikhail Baryshnikov as the lead dancer. In parallel to his fabulous career with the ABT, he was appointed as the “international representative” of the Teatro Colón Ballet. Furthermore, he was regularly invited to dance with companies the world over. He bade farewell to the stage in 2007 in Buenos Aires in front of 300,000 people. In 2010, he was appointed as the artistic director of the BNS | Ballet Nacional Sodre in Uruguay.
