BNS | BALLET NACIONAL SODRE is the national dance company of Uruguay, focusing its activities at the SODRE National Auditorium in Montevideo, where it averages over 60 shows per season (of a both classical and contemporary repertoire) and performs in front of approximately 100,000 annual spectators.

Founded in 1935, the Corps de Ballet from the SODRE (Servico Oficial de Difusion, Radiotelevision y Espectaculos), is one of the most prestigious troupes from South America. After having experienced a period of decline following a fire in the 1970s, it arose from the ashes thanks to the international star Julio Bocca, who took over the direction in 2010 and renamed the company BNS | Ballet Nacional Sodre. The incorporation of master Julio Bocca as artistic director gave rise to a strongly dynamic process of refoundation of the national corps de ballet, opening its doors to the region and the world, both regarding the composition of its members and the selection of masters, choreographers and guest dancers, restarting a gradual and safe incorporation of the company to a path of excellence attuned to the times and at an international level.
