Orphée Ahinhinnou
Orphée Georgah Ahéhéhinnou is a Beninese dancer, choreographer and teacher of traditional dances.
He discovered his passion for dance at a very early age and joined traditional artistic groups such as Ori Danse Club and Vidélia Dance. In 2008, he became coordinator in charge of choreography for the concerts and music videos of Anice Pépé, a Beninese singing star. In 2015, he joined the group 3LifeDe, with whom he expanded his repertoire of traditional and ceremonial dances from Benin, of which he is now one of the experts. At the same time, he trained in contemporary dance with Vincent Harisdo, Richard Adossou, Rachelle Agbossou, Marcel Gbeffa, Andréya Ouamba, Bienvenu Basie and Wendy Jelhen. In 2016, he joined the Multicorps – Marcel Gbeffa company and took part in several productions, including Dide, by Marcel Gbeffa and Sarah Trouche, created in 2020 as part of the Africa 2020 Season (touring in 2021 in France, Morocco and Mozambique). He is also a performer with the Beninese company Dimension, led by director and actor Chakirou Salami.
In 2018, Orphée Georgah Ahéhéhinnou choreographed his first solo: Prisonnier de son ombre. In 2019, he took part in the Fari Foni Waati#3 Festival in Bamako. In 2021, he graduated in Traditional and Contemporary African Dance (class of 2018-2020) from L’Ecole des Sables in Senegal. At the end of December 2021, he was offered a creative residency at Festival Connexion#2 in Cotonou for his second solo, Ibéré, which he performed again in December 2023 at the Institut Français in Cotonou. That same year, he joined the cast of Gbemiton, choreographed by Carmelita Siwa (Cie Arts Ca’Danser), which represented Benin in the cultural section of the IXth Jeux de la Francophonie, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, winning the bronze medal. A few months later, he joined Wendy Jelhen’s Cie Anikaya in the United States for a creative residency. There he gave a number of courses in traditional Beninese dance.
