Richard Adossou
Stilt walker since childhood, Richard adossou joins as a traditional dancer the troupe Akonhoun (royal traditional dance of Abomey) led by the singer and dancer Anagonou Vodjo, star of Benin. In 2000, he joined the National Ballet of Benin, first as a dancer-stilt-walker then as a choreographer. In 2005, he choreographied with Clément Kakpo Ori, a Florent Hessou’performance which won the Gold Medal at the 5th Games of La Francophonie. At the same time, he discovered contemporary dance with the Sacam group, led by Clément Kakpo and Médard Sossa and trained at the Ecole des Sables, in Senegal (2005 – 2013). His meeting with Francesca Pedullà and Frey Faust led him to integrate the Axis Syllabus, a biomechanical study of movement. In 2006 – 2007, he participated in France and Mali in the creation of Moïse Touré and Jean-Claude Gallota, 2147 L’ Afrique (revived in 2018-2019). At the same time, he founded the Rich’Culture Association dedicated to training, research and creation. His piece Sonagnon, for 10 performers, was presented at the Francophonie Games in Lebanon in 2009 and Issewo, commissioned by the Zinsou Foundation for the Dansons Maintenant ! 2012 was selected for the Nice Games in 2013. That same year, he won the Visa pour la création (French Institute) and was hosted in a creation residency at the Center National de la Danse (Pantin, France) for the piece Murmure. He collaborates in various creations: Adja, by Pierre Sannouvi, Brussels – 2008; From the Myth of the Money God, Archivolto Theatre, Genoa – 2010; Inevitable dialogue by Francesca Pedullà, Brussels – 2012; Two among us, with Francesca Pedullà and Frey Faust (Düsseldorf, Berlin – 2012), and the short movie Je ne sais plus qui a fait quoi (directed by Antoine Renouard & Adrien Michel, 2013). His career also crosses Pierre Doussaint, Pedro Pauwels, Régine Chopinot, Elisabeth Cameron Delman, Elisabeth DIsdier, Susan Buirge, Sophiatou Kossoko, Neta Pulvermacher, Gabriel Smeet, Noortje Bijvoet, Feri de Geus and Salia Sanou among others.
A graduate of Technique Germaine Acogny (2013), trainer in Axis Syllabus (to be certified) 2022), Richard adossou is involved in the development of contemporary dance in Benin through the creation of Days of reflection on dance (2012-2015) and the Marche festival International for Dance (MAIDA, 2010 – 2019).
