Lalanbik CDCN océan Indien
Collections
Lalanbik – Centre de développement chorégraphique national – océan Indien is based in Saint-Pierre, La Réunion.
An expert in dance creation from Saint-Pierre, La Réunion and the Indian Ocean, Lalanbik operates within the CDCN network, which comprises 15 partner venues, 2 of which are located outside mainland France: Lalanbik in La Réunion and ToukaDanse in French Guiana.
Lalanbik’s missions are guided by a commitment to the Indian Ocean gesture of hospitality rather than conquest.
From La Réunion, the CDCN grows with the resilient heart of African neighbors, in the breath of the territories of the South, Mauritius, Mayotte, Mozambique, Madagascar, South Africa, India, the Comoros, Kenya, in the multiple mesh of committed artistic organizations, linked by the ocean and by history, of women and men who imagine and create their lives under the trade winds. It is a crucible of avant-garde living, a crucible of imagination for a new world, a crucible of peace. It is an idea-exploration – are there any gestures in the Indian Ocean? – our wager on a choreographic vitality capable of opening up representations, crossing the multiple, setting in motion the sharing to be seen and recognized too, of the whole other world. This thought-movement invites us to feel the living being in the world, the being there, vibrating in otherness, to plunge into immateriality, sensitivity and complexity. It invites us to join the traveler on her journey of transformation and upheaval. It is a necessity, a chance for a gesture of hospitality rather than conquest.
In dialogue with artists, communities and associations, Lalanbik has, since October 2019, been opening up spaces and observing the compositions and writing that reveal themselves there, scrutinizing the invisible beyond the known. The project has taken shape, a palimpsest of the issues, troubles and desires of our world.
Our collection of video works, LA PEAU NUMÉRIQUE, includes a series of films, virtual exhibitions on the numeridanse.tv, Lalanbik.re and kiltir.org websites, and a production of dance films, notably the Ocean moves series.
DIGITAL SKIN is a sensitive witness to the activities and life of images, protecting and enveloping them, but also linking them and making them visible: a membrane-border that is both a space of impression and of visibility beyond insular limits; a place of abundance and richness; an open space that encourages the search for other forms of writing and sharing, other tools; skin, the gateway to another world crossed by other representations and freedoms.
THE DIGITAL SKIN is woven as a link to the public throughout the year: it enables us to program audiovisual works at the same time as performances on stage, to combine dance practices with digital broadcasts, to build educational tools, to propose a school of the eye, etc…
