Founded in 2007, the company identifies with a fragile ecosystem where one can both lose and liberate oneself—a “Tout-monde” (Édouard Glissant), where roots intertwine and adapt, allowing for openings and necessary escapes. Influenced by poetry and mythology, by history and the evolution of society, Hubert Petit-Phar explores themes of resilience and identity in each of his works. The relationship between human beings and territory, the flow of movement, and memory are at the heart of his creative process.

Aesthetic, political, and symbolic boundaries

The choreographer questions the nature of borders, the idea of the center and polycentricity, the notion of distance and permeability—with, at the core, an urgent call to collectively resist all forms of withdrawal, especially identity-based isolation.

La Mangrove was initially co-founded by Delphine Cammal and Hubert Petit-Phar. Since the summer of 2023, Delphine Cammal has moved on to pursue other professional endeavors.
