Tiago Guedes has been Director of the Maison de la Danse de Lyon, Co-Director of the Lyon Biennial and Artistic Director of the Lyon Dance Biennial since 2022.
A graduate of the Lisbon Polytechnic Institute’s Higher School of Dance in 2000, he pursued a career as a dancer and choreographer from 2001 to 2013. He danced for João Fiadeiro, Miguel Pereira and Alice Chauchat, and took part in numerous choreographic research workshops with Vera Mantero, Francisco Camacho, Boris Charmatz and Xavier Leroy.
His work as a choreographer began in 2001, and has enjoyed extensive international exposure in over 20 European countries and beyond. In France, these include the Lyon Dance Biennial, the Théâtre de la Bastille (Paris), the Centre National de la Danse in Pantin, the Festival Latitudes Contemporaines (Lille), and the Centre Pompidou-Metz, which, as part of a focus on his work, has initiated the publication of the Instantanés series, along with a monograph on his career.
In 2014, he became Artistic Director of the Teatro Municipal do Porto in Portugal, and Director of the Performing Arts Department of the City of Porto. Tiago Guedes created the DDD (Dias da Dança) Festival in 2016 and the CAMPUS Paulo Cunha e Silva Centre for Residencies and Artistic Creation, which will be inaugurated in June 2021.
