néo-fiction
by christian rizzo and sophie laly
Christian Rizzo explores the relationship between abstraction and narration, with special attention to the evolution of scenic design collaboration.
For his new work Neo-Fiction Rizzo invited French videomaker Sophie Laly to create a moving image installation.
Neo-Fiction was born from a desire to bring films, stage props, lighting design and music, together in one theatrical space. The images will be shot in the outskirts of Seattle, Washington, between the mountains and the sea.
The collaboration will result in a performance installation whose dramaturgy of scattered elements features video whose main character is the landscape.
Neo-Fiction investigates physical presence, its dispersion and disappearance in open space surrounded by nature, in contrast to all the limitations of the closed space of a theatre. The installation will be enhanced by display of objects and signs – found, built or devised – and by detailed lighting instructions.
A special guest musician invited to join Neo-Fiction will perform.
