Le Corps Sombre – 2006

Le corps sombre marks a breakthrough in Yvann Alexandre’s repertoire. produced between France and Quebec, this piece is based on avant-garde musical techniques. Baroque and contemporary music alternate to make sound one of the major players on the scene. When the dance of bodies becomes breath. Stripped decor. Immobility of the interpreters. Harmonious evolution of bodies. Combat. Music coming from everywhere, invading the space, creating a bubble that envelops the audience and the stage. The dark body invites us to a calligraphy of the intimate. Precise. demanding. That of a face to face with oneself where the clear outline of gestures becomes a sign. The sign, speech, music. in search of an impossible unity, of an inaccessible purity, the universe of Yvann Alexandre has always been dual. By choosing the angel as the theme of his creation, the choreographer does not escape his demons. The dark body invites the presence of the invisible on stage, summons the forces of light and shadow, incites flight and describes the fall. Véronique Bonnet

… all along the way, the bodies rise towards their graves to better understand the skies …

“Black moment with the real scent of sleep filled with shadows, lands with worn landscapes and heavy, artificial skies … then unite the venoms and decimate the unique. behind the elegance, this superb arrogance, these divine lines … in the pit of the stomach, feel the beauty of evil, of the dirty. poor castaway angel of the common movement. when the mass drowns the one, the angel is extinguished. in the barking pack, the body is crushed. the weight of others becomes yours. fear the breath on you self, feel the sweet poison of the mornings. not being able to cross the collapsing frame, being a soul curl. your dark body… you were the accident, the poison tear, that weird boxed escape piece of boredom. ashes and dust, you were there before depositing body and weapons. the pack… already… an angel died this morning. talking about it is useless. retrace the path, look at his hands… part of the pack, simple witness with a dark or clever body. the body now rises in silence, weaves the threads of another birth, from elsewhere … there is no elsewhere. and the obscure ones will sail. black moment. ”
