Pendant ce temps, dans une autre partie de la forêt
“Pendant ce temps, dans une autre partie de la forêt” (2007) is a short film by Arnold Pasquier. It is a cinematographic work featuring sequences shot in Paris, Venice, Naples, Tel Aviv, and in India.
“The eve of the second election round, there is a knock at the door. During this time, in another part of the forest, a boat crosses the Grand Canal, a carpenter sands a table frame, a group dances in a market, and Nicolas Sarkozy promises to put an end to the legacy of May 68”.
Remark by Arnold Pasquier in 2019 :
“The political tension of the second round of the presidential election, opposing Ségolène Royal and Nicolas Sarkozy, inspired a film, mainly composed of already existing documents, where I alternate sequences shot in the discotheque du Palace in Paris in 1988, footage of a Venice Biennial, and an extract from one of Pina Bausch’s shows. The film ends with a fiction that brings together two actors in an apartment for a love song, a way of staging, in the conflict, a moment of respite and gentleness.
