Michael Descombey
(1930-2011)
Dancer, choreographer and ballet master at the Paris Opera (1962-1969), then director (1965-1969), he also co-directed the Studio-Ballet (1967-1969), which represented the Opera during the Houses of culture ‘s tours. It contributes to the rejuvenation of the ballet repertoire: « Frères humains » (Humans Brothers, 1950) ; « Symphonie concertante et Piccolo et mandoline » (1962) ; « But » (Purpose, 1963) ; « Sarracenia » (1964) ; Zyklus (1968). From 1968 to 1973, Mr. Descombey also collaborated with the Contemporary Theater Ballet : « Désert », (Desert, 1968), « Thrène (1968), « Violostries » (1969), « le Huitième Jour » (The 8th day, 1973). He moved to Mexico in 1975 where he died.
