This film ponders such questions as the body, dance and the traces it leaves behind, both inside and out. “l danced professionally for ten years,” Marie-Pascale Lescot recounts, “then stopped completely, with no pparent regrets. But years later, âs my son took his first steps, certain questions arose: Where does dance come from? What traces does it leave inside? What makes us dance? Spiderman, French folk dance, my father, Fred Astaire, Swatch watches, and a pair of chubby calves provided some clues.. . ln a moving and slightly burlesque way, Feet on the Ground embraces dance as a gesture that transcends the boundêries of space and time.” From the Hollywood musicals of Vincente Minelll to Merce Cunningham, from baroque dance to boogie, this Tilm is composed in the manner of a choreography, with connecting threads, different layers, developments, pauses and recurrent themes. ln the process, it goes beyond dance to explode myths, stereotypes and archetypes.
