Grands soirs
Le charme discret des “Grands soirs” de la bourgeoisie
To advance still further in the already ancient relationship between music and dance, Gilles Grand and Michel Kelemenis have created a show in which music and dance take equal place. The fact that instrumentalists are present on the stage is the starting point of the stage work. It also comes with a complete change in the role of the electroacoustic system, which then has to acquire a flexibility, rapidity and manoeuvrability, making it the equal of the musician, so that a real dialogue is established with him.
The composition includes cello and trombone duets, as well as “soli” pieces for each instrument.
Through duets, trios and quartets, the 7 dancers ensure the permanent existence of at least 2 parallel spaces, welcoming each choreography or rest scene. The dance aims at making the music increasingly fluid.
The overall composition is extremely sequenced. The aim is, however, by using a multitude of relationships between dance and music, to smooth out its rough edges and reveal the wanderings of these individuals waiting for GRANDS SOIRS (REVOLUTIONS).
