Davy Brun is flying high: over the past few months, everything has speeded up intensely for this young choreographer from Lyon. Invited to present a duo at the Maison de la Danse’s Studio Jorge Donn last season, laureate of the [re]connaissance Award in 2011, he has also been highly requested by the Ballet of Mainz in Germany. His eight years working with the Ballet of the Opera of Lyon and his three years with the Grand Théâtre of Geneva provided him with the opportunity to discover a wide range of body movements. Dancing for the greatest contemporary choreographers inspired him to create his own choreographies. So, what has he kept from classical dance, non-dance and contemporary dance? Aesthetics, movement, a line of thought. His choreographic research, marked by his many encounters, aims to create a “danced dance”, where he will be able to use the abundant wealth of the various forms of dance that he has discovered through his own experience. The project for the piece of work originally stemmed from his discovery of musical works from the 15th century, which may have been composed by Cristobal Colon (Christoffa in Genovese), a little-known 15th century musician or, why not even his brother, Bartolomeo. A genuine discovery epitomized by incredible dancers that Davy Brun met at the Lyon Opéra Ballet, the Ballet of Monte-Carlo and the Béjart Ballet in Lausanne.
