Between dance, theatre and music, ‘Efecto Tango’ tells the story of a group of friends in Buenos Aires, who are having a leaving party for one of their members.

Betrayals. Friends celebrating the impossible, who let themselves go just as they are, who exorcize their misery by partying and dancing the tango.
Efecto Tango is a highly “porteño” show, born out of the intention to link together different expressions: dance, music, tango and theatre. Its staging was nourished by a host of questions that we asked ourselves about the narrative limits of the tango, about the potentialities of its codes, its aesthetics, its music and its imagination used for theatrical language and for dance. The need to talk, through the tango, about the crisis that led Argentina to an economic and, more importantly, emotional collapse, gave our research extra impetus.

We blend together theatrical elements with those from the tango to create a specific language, a highly-particular code of movement that incorporates different simultaneous narrative lines: sound used for the emotional complexity of the characters, temporary ruptures, the division of the scenographic space, the lighting that reinforces the non-space, the screen that symbolizes Argentina, etc.
