Yan Raballand
Even before he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, Yan Raballand began dreaming of music in movement by listening to the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Fascinated by the richness of these compositions, counterpoint became a source of inspiration. This notion has become the basis of an ongoing search for the alchemy between musicality, choreographic writing and the relationship with the performers.
This quest, transfigured through the various creations in the repertoire (Flux, Les Habits neufs du Roi, Les Bulles Chorégraphiques, Contrepoint, etc.) travels through contrasting universes, from abstraction to narration, from the stage to In Situ, from rigorous architecture to poetic snapshots. All with the purity of space as the only backdrop.
The company is called Contrepoint to affirm the choreographer’s signature.
The Compagnie Contrepoint is supported by the Ministère de la Culture – DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
The Compagnie Contrepoint will be associated with Le Vellein, a CAPI – National Interest Conventional Stage in Isère, for 3 seasons from 2022 to 2025.
Yan Raballand will be an associate artist of the Bourg en Bresse National Stage, for the Amours quadrimester, from September to December 2023.
