[Such Stuff As We Are Made Of]

In  her work “Ce dont nous sommes faits”, with a passion bound up with  heart and body, Lia Rodrigues considers the meaning of the word  “discover”: to take off or withdraw that which covers, to bring to  light, reveal, invent… and the diktat of beauty. Nude, the dancers deal  in turn with the issues of discovering the other, one’s convictions and  the place that the body holds in our society. Next the bodies drape  themselves in slogans, advertising phrases and other quotations… With  Lia Rodrigues, the body is never pure, but poisoned by too much  information.

“Ce dont nous sommes faits”, created to coincide with  the 500th anniversary of the discovery of Brazil, was awarded the Rio  Dança Prize 2000 (choreography and music).
