Giro Di Pista
Created as part of the Nanterre Young Audiences Season on December 14, 2018
This creation by Ambra Senatore and Marc Lacourt is performed on a stage transformed into a dance floor, a party! The dancers invite children—and parents—to gradually create a joyful moment of shared dance.
“A ball is like a cake: you have to prepare everything, invent a recipe… and the best thing is to do it together,” they say. As soon as the audience arrives, there is a slow build-up of excitement, with attention focused on welcoming them and helping them discover the venue. The empty space of the stage gradually fills with bodies, movements, but also drawings and smiles. While Ambra Senatore and Marc Lacourt provide the basis for the recipe, it is up to the audience to bring an ingredient: a small mystery object (of little value) to create a highly participatory dance performance together.
Group games, the pleasure of doing things together: the three dancers guide the steps and revisit everyday gestures. To music, or in silence! In this tour de piste, there is no question of reproducing a ready-made choreography: Ambra Senatore and Marc Lacourt prefer another kind of dance, one that each person creates for themselves, one that brings us joy and draws us into communion with others.
In the excitement of the coming celebration, or at the height of the festive moment, all the ingredients are there for a collective and poetic surge to emerge. Like a big burst of infectious laughter.
