Karine Music
Karine Music has a degree in Modern Literature, followed by training in lighting for the performing arts. She worked for various festivals and theatres before joining Utopia cinemas, where she honed her eye for creative documentaries and auteur films.
In 2011, she decided to go over to the other side of the optical mirror and trained alternately as a camera operator and documentary writer. She has long been fascinated by environmental issues and their social consequences, and has worked as a director on a number of agro-ecology projects.
At the same time, she works as a photographer, shooting video footage and interviews for theatres and festivals such as the Avignon Festival, La Garance, Scène nationale de Cavaillon, the Abbé Pierre Foundation’s ‘C’est Pas du Luxe’ festival and Les Hivernales – CDCN d’Avignon.
Convinced that collective creation is the best vector for mutual understanding and openness to others, she has been actively involved for eight years in 123 Soleil, cinéma solidaire, an association whose aim is to create links and encounters by offering cinema workshops to audiences who are far removed from these practices.
The themes of diversity, equality, exile and social justice are particularly dear to her heart.
