Nicolas Barry
Nicolas Barry is a playwright and choreographer born in Lille in 1989. After studying literature and theatre in Paris, he joined the playwriting department at ENSATT in Lyon. From 2017 he worked as a dramaturge with Julien Fisera (Compagnie Espace Commun). He won the 2018-2019 R.C.A scholarship (ENSATT Lyon, ENSBA Lyon, CNSMD Lyon), which enabled him to create the show Les Obsèques du Grand Paon at the Biennale d’art contemporain and Les Subsistances, and then to take part in the Danse Élargie competition at the Théâtre de la Ville. With the Ensemble Facture, he wrote and directed the short film L’Eau Potable. His play La Paix dans le monde won the Jamais Lu festival and was read at Théâtre-Ouvert in 2021, before being selected by the Troisième Bureau reading committee in Grenoble. His play Grand Crié premiered in November 2022 at the SUBS in Lyon, and has been presented at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris and at the CENTQUATRE as part of the impatience festival.
