Originally from Lifou by his mother and from Guadeloupe by his father, it was late that this Caledonian discovered dance. An introverted teenager, he chose hip-hop, a way of “opening up to others” and “gaining self-confidence”.
With his group 19 Impact, he multiplies representations in neighborhoods and even in New Zealand and Fiji. The idea of becoming a professional dancer is obvious. Donatien decides to give himself the means to carry out his project. In the company of his friend Maky, also a dancer in the making, the young man researched the training offered before making his choice at the Manufacture d’Aurillac. Retained after having passed video auditions, the Caledonian leaves with an idea well in mind: to return to the country with something to transmit, to give. “My motivation is to show the way to young talents who are looking for themselves, who do not know how to develop themselves. “
Once graduated, Donatien would like to work in company, “to become independent” before returning to New Caledonia. There, the aspiring artist wishes to have this double hat of choreographer and dance teacher. Above all, he hopes to have a role to play with young people in the country. “I think art allows young people to emancipate themselves, to mobilize, to get out of it.”
