Desolate
Exploring themes of loneliness, isolation and climate change this film is an adaptation of an art installation made of burnt baking paper. Waking up in a post-apocalypse world, the dancer interacts with a scenery that comes to life. The film questions humans’ place in nature while combining dance and fine art.
Making process
The film was created from an installation piece that later evolved into a stop-motion dance film. The choreography was inspired by the installation and the movements were precisely planned in accordance with the frames of the film.
Sound and music
The sound was designed with a mixture of natural recorded sounds and music. The music that was used in the film is composed by the french composer Erik Satie and is called Gnossienne no.1 from the late 19th century.
